Ganderbal :The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has trapped and arrested Ganderab Singh, Patwari of Patwar Halqa Thalora, Tehsil Majalta, District Udhampur, along with Kuldeep Kumar, Chowkidar, for demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹10,000.
A case FIR No. 03/2025 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 and Section 61(2) BNS, 2023 was registered after the complainant reported that the accused had demanded illegal gratification for correction of his name in revenue records.
Following a discreet verification that confirmed the bribery demand, a trap team led by a DySP was constituted. The team successfully caught both accused red-handed while accepting the bribe in the presence of independent witnesses. They were immediately arrested, and the tainted money was recovered on the spot.
A search was also conducted at the Patwari’s residence at Khoon, Majalta, in the presence of a Magistrate.
Further investigation is underway.
