Jammu, Oct 15: In a continuing crackdown on anti-social elements involved in violence and theft, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have successfully solved a major case of attack, looting, and vandalism at a National Highway construction site in the Bari Brahmana area of Samba district.
Police officials stated that on October 13, a written complaint was filed by Sudhir, the authorized representative of M/s Shivalaya Construction Limited, regarding a violent incident that occurred during the intervening night of October 12 and 13 at Chainage No. 506 000, near village Sarore.
According to the complaint, a mob of 10-15 unidentified individuals attacked the company’s project site around midnight, pelting stones and assaulting on-duty guards and workers with sticks and rods.
The attackers reportedly damaged CCTV cameras, lighting systems, vehicles, and other site infrastructure, including a Camper vehicle. They also looted valuable construction materials.
Acting swiftly, police registered a case at Police Station Bari Brahmana under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and launched an investigation.
During the course of the investigation, six individuals were apprehended for their involvement in the incident.
The arrested persons have been identified as Sadiq Ali, Mushtaq Ahmed, Gulab Din alias Gaya, Mohd Farooq alias Bothu, Bagh Hussain, all residents of Sarore Adda, Bari Brahmana and Mohd Shareef of Phallan Mandal district Jammu, presently residing at Sarore Adda.
During sustained questioning, police said that accused persons confessed to their involvement in the crime and revealed the concealment locations of the stolen goods. Acting on their disclosure, Samba Police recovered a substantial quantity of stolen construction materials from the residence of Mohd Farooq.
More recoveries were made based on disclosures by accused Mohd Sadiq and Bagh Hussain from a concealed site near Shamshan Ghat, Sarore Adda and further investigation of the case is going on, said police.
The prompt and coordinated action by the Police team led by SHO PS Bari Brahmana under the supervision of SDPO Bari Brahmana and under the overall supervision of SSP Samba, resulted in the swift arrest of accused persons and recovery of looted property within days of the incident.
Samba Police reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring peace, law and order and to taking strict action against all elements attempting to disrupt public safety or property.–(UNI)
