Heavy Rains Damage Kijipora Bridge, Traffic on SSG Road Suspended; BRO 122 RCC on Job

Ganderbal 14 Aug (KNZ):Due to heavy rains and rising water levels in Wangat Nala, the Kijipora bridge near the dumping site in Kangan has suffered major damage, forcing a complete halt to traffic on the Srinagar–Ganderbal–Sonamarg/Ladakh route.

Traffic Police Rural Kashmir said vehicular movement in both directions has been stopped until the bridge is restored and clearance is given by the concerned BEACON authorities.

Officials confirmed that BRO 122 RCC has pressed men and machinery into service to restore the damaged bridge at the earliest. Motorists are advised to avoid travel on the route until a fresh advisory is issued.KNZ
