Ganderbal Jan 21:In a significant enforcement operation, the GST Enforcement Centre, Central Kashmir, on Tuesday conducted a surprise naka checking at the Nagbal area of Ganderbal, during which dozens of vehicles were checked and penalised for violations. The drive was carried out on the directions of the Deputy Commissioner, State Taxes Enforcement, Central Kashmir.

Officials said the enforcement action was aimed at curbing tax evasion and ensuring strict compliance with Goods and Services Tax (GST) regulations, particularly with regard to the transportation of goods without valid documentation.

During the checking, several vehicles were found operating in violation of GST norms and were fined on the spot as per the prescribed rules.

Authorities stated that such enforcement drives will continue across Central Kashmir in the coming days to plug revenue leakages and strengthen the GST compliance framework.

The department has advised traders and transporters to carry all requisite documents and strictly adhere to tax laws to avoid penal action.
