Ganderbal 12th Sep (KNZ):Continuing its relentless drive against illegal extraction of minerals, Ganderbal Police on Friday registered two FIRs and seized five vehicles involved in unlawful mining activities across the district.

The vehicles, found illegally transporting minerals extracted from Nallah Sindh, were intercepted during surprise checks in the jurisdictions of PS Kheerbawani, PS Gund, and PP Nagbal.

The seized vehicles include:JK02AP/9063,JK09/2310,JK04A/9235,JK16B/8229 and CH NO.T053478433LJ

Subsequently, FIR No. 149 and 150 of 2025 under Section 21 of the MMRD Act were registered at PS Ganderbal, with further investigation taken up.

This action comes as part of an ongoing campaign by District Police Ganderbal, in close coordination with the Geology & Mining Department, to curb the illegal extraction of minor minerals—a practice that threatens both the environment and local resources.

Reiterating its firm stance, Police said such drives will continue across the district to ensure violators are brought to justice. Community members have been urged to cooperate and share information about such activities, with an assurance of strict confidentiality for informants.
