Ganderbal, Dec 1:In a continued crackdown on illegal mining activities, Ganderbal Police on Monday seized six vehicles, including five tractors and one tipper, for their involvement in the unlawful extraction and transportation of minor minerals in different areas under the jurisdiction of PS Kangan, PS Gund, and PP Sonamarg.
Officials said the vehicles were found carrying minerals without mandatory permits. The seizures were made on the spot by police teams in coordination with the Geology & Mining Department.
Police stated that illegal mineral extraction not only causes significant loss to the public exchequer but also poses a serious threat to the environment. The district police have reiterated their commitment to taking strict action against anyone found engaging in such illegal activities.
The public has been advised to refrain from illegal mining and unauthorized transportation of minerals. Police warned that stringent legal action will be taken against violators.
