Ganderbal, October 23:As part of the ongoing Police Martyrs’ Commemoration Week, Ganderbal Police organized a Badminton Tournament at Gadoora Stadium to pay rich tributes to the brave police personnel who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty for the nation’s peace and security.
The event was inaugurated by SSP Ganderbal Shri Khalil Ahmad Poswal (JKPS) in the presence of senior officers, police personnel, players, and a large gathering of local sports enthusiasts.
Teams from across the district participated in the tournament, displaying remarkable zeal, team spirit, and sportsmanship. The matches were marked by intense yet friendly competition, reflecting the values of unity, discipline, and resilience — hallmarks of the police force and community alike.
Speaking on the occasion, SSP Ganderbal highlighted that the event serves as a humble tribute to the martyrs who laid down their lives for public safety. He emphasized that such sports activities not only promote fitness and discipline among police personnel but also help foster stronger bonds between the police and the community. He urged the youth to actively participate in positive and constructive endeavors that contribute to a peaceful society.
At the conclusion of the event, trophies and medals were distributed among the winners — GDC Ganderbal — and the runners-up — Physical College Gadoora — by Ganderbal Police and other dignitaries.
Participants and spectators lauded the efforts of District Police Ganderbal for organizing such meaningful initiatives during the Martyrs’ Commemoration Week, reiterating that the sacrifices of police martyrs will forever remain etched in collective memory.
