Ganderbal 12 Dec:The Ganderbal Police, in coordination with the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD), on Thursday carried out an intensive verification and seizure drive targeting vehicles with outside–UT registration numbers operating in the district without completing mandatory transfer formalities.
Multiple naka points were established at strategic locations across Ganderbal, where joint teams conducted thorough inspections to check compliance with registration transfer norms and other legal requirements under the Motor Vehicles Act.
Officials said strict action was taken against vehicle owners and drivers found violating rules, including plying non-transferred vehicles, driving without valid documents, and other traffic-related offences. Several vehicles were seized during the drive, while challans were also issued on the spot.
The Ganderbal Police stated that the objective of the operation is to enhance road safety, curb misuse of outside-registered vehicles, and ensure strict enforcement of statutory provisions. Similar drives, they said, will continue in the coming days as part of a sustained effort to maintain discipline on the roads.
Authorities have appealed to the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and ensure timely completion of all vehicle registration and transfer procedures. Citizens have also been urged to strictly adhere to traffic rules to avoid legal consequences.
