Ganderbal, October 16:In a determined move to curb the menace of drug trafficking and ensure a drug-free society, Ganderbal Police on Thursday carried out a special joint scanning drive of courier parcels and vehicles at Pandach Naka.
The drive was conducted in collaboration with CRPF 115 Battalion, Excise Department, Revenue Department, Security Wing of J&K Police (X-Ray Baggage Van Team, Security Kashmir), and the Anti-Smuggling Team (AST) Ganderbal.
During the operation, all vehicles, courier parcels, and baggage passing through the naka were thoroughly examined using advanced X-ray scanning equipment to detect any concealed contraband or narcotic substances. The aim of this joint exercise was to prevent the transportation of drugs through courier services or other channels and to strengthen inter-agency coordination in tackling the drug menace.
Officials said that such coordinated drives not only help in keeping a strict vigil on drug trafficking networks but also act as a strong deterrent for those involved in the illegal trade.
Ganderbal Police reaffirmed its commitment to continue similar intensified surveillance and checking operations across all entry and exit points of the district to ensure that drug peddlers and traffickers find no safe passage.
The district police appealed to the public to cooperate in its efforts and report any information related to drug smuggling to help in building a safer, drug-free Ganderbal.
