Ganderbal 25th July:In a determined effort to combat the menace of drug abuse, the Ganderbal Police, in collaboration with civil society members and students, launched a comprehensive anti-drug campaign in the jurisdiction of Police Station Kheerbawani.

As part of the campaign, a large-scale wild cannabis (Bhung) destruction drive was carried out in the Sehpora and Kurag areas. The operation was conducted under the directions of SSP Ganderbal, Shri Khalil Ahmad Poswal (JKPS), and was led by the SHO of Police Station Kheerbawani along with dedicated police teams. Students from various educational institutions actively participated in the drive, showcasing strong community engagement and support.

In addition to the destruction of wild cannabis, the police organized a series of awareness rallies and debate competitions aimed at sensitizing youth and local residents about the harmful effects of drug abuse. These events witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and members of the community, reflecting a united stance against the spread of narcotics in the region.

Police officials, during the events, emphasized the critical role of public cooperation in fighting the drug menace. They reiterated the commitment of Ganderbal Police to continue its efforts toward building a drug-free society through a combination of enforcement and education.

The Ganderbal Police has urged citizens to report any information related to the illegal cultivation of cannabis or poppy, assuring that strict legal action will be taken against those found involved in such activities.
