GANDERBAL, 02 Feb 2026:Ganderbal Police on Sunday organized a comprehensive one-day training programme at the District Police Lines (DPL) Ganderbal focusing on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the investigation of crimes against women.

 

The programme was aimed at enhancing the professional competence and legal understanding of Investigating Officers (IOs) handling sensitive cases involving women and children. The sessions covered key legal provisions under the POCSO Act, victim-centric investigation techniques, evidence collection and preservation, and standard operating procedures to ensure fair, timely, and effective justice delivery.

 

SSP Ganderbal, Khalil Ahmad Poswal (JKPS), attended the programme and highlighted the need for sensitivity, professionalism, and strict adherence to legal protocols while dealing with such cases.

 

He emphasized that cases involving women and children require prompt action, empathy towards victims, and meticulous investigation to ensure accountability and justice.

 

 

Legal and technical experts briefed the participants on recent amendments, judicial precedents, procedural safeguards, and inter-departmental coordination with medical professionals, child welfare committees, and other stakeholders.

 

Officers also engaged in interactive discussions to share field experiences and address practical challenges encountered during investigations.

 

 

The initiative underscores Ganderbal Police’s commitment to strengthening investigative standards, protecting vulnerable sections of society, and ensuring a safer environment for women and children in the district.
