Ganderbal, October 15:In a significant step towards strengthening the fight against drug abuse, District Police Ganderbal on Tuesday conducted a mass disposal drive of seized narcotics and psychotropic substances under the supervision of the District Level Drug Disposal Committee, Ganderbal.
Acting on the directions of SSP Ganderbal Khalil Ahmad Poswal-JKPS, a large quantity of seized contraband substances, valued in lakhs, was destroyed through scientific incineration at Kashmir Health Care System, IGC Lassipora.
The destroyed material was recovered from 23 NDPS cases registered in different police stations across the district. The disposal was carried out after obtaining due permission from the competent court, ensuring full compliance with legal and environmental procedures.
The entire process was conducted under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Ganderbal, in the presence of a Judicial Magistrate and other officials.
Speaking on the occasion, officials emphasized that the disposal of seized narcotics reflects Ganderbal Police’s unwavering commitment to eliminating drug abuse and ensuring a drug-free society. They reiterated that strict action will continue against all those involved in drug trafficking and peddling.
This initiative underscores District Police Ganderbal’s determination to safeguard youth from the menace of drugs and promote a safer, healthier community through sustained enforcement and awareness measures.
