Ganderbal, November 6:In a decisive move against illegal mining activities, Ganderbal Police has seized 10 tippers found involved in the unlawful extraction and transportation of minor minerals from various locations under the jurisdiction of Police Stations Ganderbal, Lar, Kheerbawani, and Police Post Nagbal.
The vehicles were intercepted and seized on the spot by police teams in close coordination with officials from the Geology and Mining Department after being found transporting minerals without valid permits.
Authorities said the crackdown is part of a sustained drive to curb illegal mining operations that not only cause a massive loss to the public exchequer but also inflict serious damage on the local environment.
Reaffirming its commitment to act tough against violators, Ganderbal Police stated that strict legal action will be taken against anyone found engaging in such unlawful practices.
The general public has also been urged to desist from illegal extraction or transportation of minerals and cooperate with law enforcement agencies to preserve natural resources.
