Ganderbal, 05 Sept:In a decisive move to safeguard public health, Ganderbal Police have registered two FIRs against food outlets involved in the storage and sale of rotten meat and expired edible items.

Police Station Safapora, acting on a tip-off, raided the shop of Abdul Hameed Lone S/o Ghulam Hassan Lone R/o Kondabal, where large quantities of frozen, rotten Rista and Kabab were seized. The items were declared unfit for human consumption. Case FIR No. 14/2025 U/S 271, 272, 274 & 275 BNS was registered, and the accused was arrested.

Meanwhile, Police Station Ganderbal acted swiftly on information that Hotel Matamal Food Sale Point, Beehama was using expired food items in preparing meals. During inspection, expired stock was seized from its kitchen. Case FIR No. 145/2025 U/S 271, 272, 274, 275 BNS was registered, and the accused was arrested.

Ganderbal Police reaffirmed their commitment to public health, assuring that strict action will continue against such hazardous practices and violators will face stern legal consequences.
