Ganderbal, June 27: In a proactive and safety-first initiative, the District Administration Ganderbal has issued a comprehensive ban on swimming, bathing, and taking selfies in and around the treacherous stretches of Nallah Sindh, including popular spots such as Arch Truss Bridge Wayil, Mammer, Gagangir, Hung, and Sonamarg.
The decision, taken by Dr. Syed Faheem A. Bukhari (JKAS), Additional Deputy Commissioner, aims to prevent unfortunate accidents and loss of lives during the summer season when such areas attract large crowds. The region is known for its fast-flowing currents, deep waters, and hidden hazards—posing serious threats to life.
With immediate effect, the order instructs Tehsildars, SHOs, and officials of J&K Police and Irrigation and Floor control to remain vigilant and ensure strict implementation of the ban across their jurisdictions.
The administration has emphasized the importance of community support and responsible behavior to avoid life-threatening situations.
Locals and tourists have been urged to cooperate and respect the order, as failure to comply may attract strict action under relevant laws.
This move has been widely appreciated as a timely step to protect lives and uphold public safety.
“Let’s prioritize safety and adhere to the ban to prevent accidents,” the administration appealed.
