Ganderbal, Nov 27: A joint team of the Forest Protection Force (FPF) from RC Hayan, Forest Territorial Staff of Block Akhal-2 and Soil Conservation Unit, along with local volunteers, successfully doused a forest fire that broke out in Compartment No. 16-B of Sindh Forest Division, Block Akhal-2 on Thursday.
The firefighting operation commenced shortly after the fire was detected in the area.The team, under the supervision of AD Sindh and the concerned Block Officer, worked tirelessly to contain the flames.
Officials said that approximately 0.3 hectares of forest area, consisting mainly of dry grass, shrubs and rotten forest material, had caught fire. Due to coordinated efforts, the fire was brought under complete control (100% extinguished), preventing it from spreading further into dense forest zones.
The operation concluded successfully, and the team returned to RC Hayan at 05:45 PM.
Forest officials appreciated the prompt response of field staff and local residents in safeguarding the forest ecosystem.
