Jammu, Aug 22: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday carried out searches at multiple locations in Jammu, targeting several Revenue officials and others allegedly involved in a multi-crore land scam, officials said.
Teams of the central agency, assisted by local police and CRPF, according to Srinagar based news agency Kashmir Dot Com, swooped down on the residences and offices of officers linked to the case, seizing documents and digital records believed to be connected with illegal land transactions, they said.
The ED action comes after inputs were shared by investigating agencies regarding ‘money laundering’ angles in the scam.
While the exact number of premises searched is not immediately known, the officials confirmed that the crackdown included both serving and retired officers of the Revenue Department, besides private individuals alleged to be beneficiaries.
The ED has not issued an official statement yet, but sources maintained that the searches are aimed at unearthing the trail of proceeds of crime and identifying key conspirators.–(KDC)
