Ganderbal, 22 June :Continuing its drive against the drug menace, Ganderbal Police on Saturday apprehended a drug peddler and recovered contraband substances from his possession in the jurisdiction of Police Post Nagbal.
Acting on specific inputs, a police party from PP Nagbal had established a routine naka at Gratbal Crossing. During the checking, a suspicious individual was intercepted, and upon personal search, a quantity of Fukki-like contraband was recovered from his possession.
The accused was identified as Javid Ahmad Bhat, son of Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Bhat, a resident of Rangil, Ganderbal. He was immediately taken into custody.
A case under FIR No. 102/2025 has been registered at Police Station Ganderbal under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway.
Ganderbal Police has once again reiterated its commitment to making the district drug-free and appealed to the public to come forward with any information related to drug peddling. The identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential.
