Ganderbal 04 Dec (KNZ): The Drug Control Department on Thursday launched a series of enforcement measures after a video alleging inadequate inspections and an alleged nexus between a section of chemists and doctors in Ganderbal went viral, officials said.

Inspection teams fanned out across several areas, conducting spot checks and lifting multiple drug samples for laboratory analysis. Three medical shops were sealed for operating without a qualified pharmacist, while records pertaining to the sale of habit-forming medicines were examined, they added.

Officials said the chemists have been instructed not to dispense medicines from newly introduced pharmaceutical companies unless the products are first sampled and cleared for quality standards.

The department has also apprised the SDM Kangan of the steps initiated and reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing regulatory norms and safeguarding public health, they said (KNZ)
