Jammu, Feb 09, 2026:In a significant breakthrough, the CID Counter Intelligence (CI) Jammu arrested a long-absconding accused involved in a Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) case and executed an absconder warrant issued by a competent court.
The arrested individual has been identified as Hilal Ahmed Bhat, son of Mohammad Assad Ullah Bhat, resident of Poshpora, Kupwara, presently residing at Bhagani Talab Mohalla, Raipur Domana, Jammu. His father, Mohammad Assad Ullah Bhat, is also named in the case.
The arrest was made in compliance with an absconder warrant issued under Section 512 CrPC by the Hon’ble Court of Principal Sessions Judge, Jammu. Both accused were wanted in FIR No. 05/2007 registered under Sections 489A, 489B, and 489C RPC at Police Station CID (CI), Jammu. They had been evading arrest for nearly 10 years, deliberately avoiding trial proceedings before the court.
Acting on specific and actionable intelligence, the Fugitive Tracking Team of CID (CI) Jammu conducted a swift and coordinated operation, leading to the arrest of Hilal Ahmed Bhat in Jammu. After his arrest, he was produced before the Hon’ble Court and has been remanded to judicial custody.
CID J&K reiterated that this operation reflects its zero-tolerance policy against FICN networks and terror-linked financial crimes. The agency affirmed its commitment to tracking fugitives, dismantling FICN and terror support structures, and ensuring that no accused involved in such crimes escapes the reach of law.
