Srinagar, Feb 1 (KNC): The Meteorological Department Srinagar on Sunday said that Jammu and Kashmir is likely to witness generally cloudy weather with intermittent light rain and snow over the coming days.

Director MET Srinagar, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad, as per news agency Kashmir News Corner (KNC), stated that on February 1, many places across the Union Territory may experience light rain or snow accompanied by thunder and gusty winds. On February 2, light rain or snowfall is expected at a few higher reaches towards night.

He said that February 3 is likely to remain generally cloudy with light rain or snowfall over higher reaches at scattered to many places. Weather is expected to improve gradually from February 4 to February 6, with partly cloudy conditions likely to prevail till the evening of February 6.

According to the forecast, February 7 may again witness generally cloudy weather with light rain or snow at a few places, while the weather is expected to remain largely dry from February 8 to February 10.

Meanwhile, an advisory has been issued advising travellers and transporters to confirm road and highway conditions from concerned traffic authorities and strictly follow administrative advisories.

Farmers have been advised to suspend farm operations for the next seven days, while people residing in snow-bound higher reaches have been cautioned against venturing into sloppy and avalanche-prone areas. (KNC)
