Hyderabad, Aug 20: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested the Project Director of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), PIU Warangal, Telangana, along with a private individual, while accepting a bribe of ₹60,000 from a complainant.
According to officials, a case was registered on August 19, 2025, following allegations that the accused had initially demanded ₹1,00,000 through a private person as an undue advantage. The bribe was sought to ensure smooth operation of the complainant’s restaurant located near Gudur Toll Plaza on the Hyderabad–Warangal Highway at Bibinagar, Telangana, without facing any hindrance.
After negotiations, the Project Director allegedly agreed to accept ₹60,000. CBI laid a trap and caught both the Project Director and the private person red-handed while accepting the bribe.
Searches were subsequently conducted at three locations in Hyderabad, Warangal, and Sadashivpet, leading to the recovery of incriminating documents.
Both the accused have been arrested and produced before the Hon’ble Court. The case remains under investigation.KNZ
