Kangan, June 5:In a proactive move to ensure public health and safety ahead of Eid-ul-Adha, authorities in Kangan and Gund have intensified market inspections, focusing on food safety and hygiene. Acting on the directions of the Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal and the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Kangan, a joint team led by Tehsildar Kangan and the Food Safety Officer conducted rigorous inspections of bakeries, meat shops, and other food establishments across both areas.

The drive, aimed at curbing the sale of substandard and unhygienic food products, saw several vendors being warned for violations of food safety norms. Officials checked the quality, labeling, and expiry dates of edible items, while also ensuring cleanliness and proper storage practices at the establishments.

An official told Kashmir News Zone (KNZ) News Agency, “We are committed to ensuring that consumers have access to safe and hygienic food, especially during the festive season. Strict action will be taken against violators to maintain food quality standards.”

Local residents welcomed the move, saying it was a much-needed step to ensure the availability of safe and quality food items in the market during Eid preparations.

The authorities have assured that such inspection drives will continue in the coming days and urged all food business operators to strictly adhere to hygiene and safety guidelines.
