Ganderbal, July 28 (KNZ): In a firm move to enforce food safety regulations, the Food Safety Officer Kangan on Monday conducted surprise inspections at several food establishments in the Dumping Park Kijpara and Ramwari areas of Gund Tehsil.

The inspection drive, carried out under the directions of SDM Kangan Nazir Ahmad Bhat (JKAS), exposed multiple violations, including unhygienic conditions, lack of sanitation, improper temperature control, expired food items, and absence of mandatory food safety registration.

Officials confirmed that two violators were fined ₹2,000 each on the spot under Section 69 of the Food Safety and Standards (FSS) Act, 2006. Additionally, one food outlet was served with a formal Improvement Notice under Section 32 of the same Act.

Strict action was taken against non-compliant businesses to ensure public health isn’t compromised. All food business operators have been warned to adhere strictly to food safety norms or face stern action in future inspections,” an official told Kashmir News Zone (KNZ).

Authorities stated that such enforcement drives will be conducted regularly to ensure safe food handling and consumer protection across the region.(knz)
