Ganderbal, June 11 (KNZ):In a decisive move following public outrage, the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Ganderbal, Wajahat Qayoom, has seized the mini-bus (Registration No. JK01L 6277) that left passengers stranded midway on the Kangan route.
The action comes just hours after multiple complaints were received from commuters who were abruptly dropped at Dursuma Manigam, far short of their destination. The mini-bus, which started from Soura around 9:30 AM, was expected to travel directly to Kangan but instead forced passengers to switch vehicles without any justification — an act that drew heavy criticism from locals, especially senior citizens and women who were part of the journey.
Responding swiftly, ARTO Wajahat Qayoom, initiated a probe into the matter. Upon verification, the vehicle was promptly seized for violating transport norms and causing inconvenience to the public.
“Such behavior from public transport operators will not be tolerated. The convenience and safety of passengers are of utmost importance,” said ARTO Qayoom, adding that regular checks will be intensified to curb such unprofessional practices.
Local residents and daily commuters have welcomed the timely action, urging authorities to maintain strict oversight on public transport operations to ensure accountability and passenger welfare.
