Srinagar, September 17:Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) today trapped and arrested two officials of the Power Development Department (PDD), Shaiq Sultan Bhat (Junior Engineer) and Mohammad Ayoub Dar (Section Officer), for demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹50,000 in Srinagar.

The action followed a written complaint alleging that the officials posted at Electric Division Pantha Chowk had demanded money from a local resident for the realignment of an electric pole installed on his property at Sempora, Pantha Chowk.

Upon receiving the complaint, ACB discreetly verified the allegations. The findings established a prima facie case under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 read with Section 61(2) of BNS against the accused officials. Consequently, an FIR No. 18/2025 was registered at Police Station ACB Srinagar and investigation was initiated.

During the probe, a trap team was constituted and deputed to Pantha Chowk, where both officials were caught red-handed while demanding and accepting the bribe amount of ₹50,000 from the complainant. The tainted money was also recovered on the spot.

ACB officials confirmed that further investigation in the case is underway.
