Reasi, Feb 18: The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has successfully trapped and arrested a revenue official for demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹10,000 in District Reasi.

According to official sources, FIR No. 04/2026 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, was registered at Police Station ACB Udhampur against Mohd. Saleem Bandey, Girdawar of Halqa Judda, Tehsil Arnas, for demanding illegal gratification from a complainant in lieu of carrying out the demarcation of his ancestral land—an official duty he was legally bound to perform without any monetary consideration.

Unwilling to succumb to corruption, the complainant approached the ACB seeking legal action. Acting swiftly, the Bureau conducted a discreet verification, which confirmed the demand for bribe. Following this, a formal case was registered and investigation was taken up.

A specialized trap team headed by a Deputy Superintendent of Police laid a successful trap, during which the accused was caught red-handed while accepting ₹10,000 from the complainant in the presence of independent witnesses.

The accused was immediately arrested, and the bribe amount was recovered from his possession as per due legal procedure.

Subsequently, a search was conducted at the residential premises of the accused at Sallian Talab, Udhampur, in the presence of a Magistrate.

Officials further revealed that two FIRs were already registered against the accused at Police Station ACB Udhampur.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau reiterated its commitment to eradicating corruption from public offices and urged citizens to report any instances of bribery or misconduct.
