Jammu, Feb 25:The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a Disproportionate Assets (DA) case against Vijay Singh Choudhary, Inspector, J&K Police, following allegations of amassing assets far beyond his known sources of income.
According to official sources, acting on specific inputs, the ACB conducted a discreet verification into the assets of Vijay Singh Choudhary, S/o Jia Lal Choudhary, a resident of Nonial, Nowshera, District Rajouri, presently residing at Santokh Vihar, Kaluchak, Jammu, and posted in the Union Territory of Ladakh.
The verification reportedly revealed that the officer had acquired substantial assets amounting to crores of rupees during his postings at various places. These assets were found to be highly disproportionate to his legitimate income.
Investigations further disclosed that more than 10 properties including residential houses, shops, and approximately 100 kanals of land valued in crores, had been acquired, mostly in the names of his family members, relatives, and other associates.
On the basis of the findings, a prima facie case under Section 13(1)(b) read with Section 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 was established against the accused officer.
Accordingly, FIR No. 02/2026 was registered at Police Station ACB Central, and further investigation was initiated.
During the course of investigation, search warrants were obtained from the Court of Special Judge Anti-Corruption, Jammu. Subsequently, ACB teams conducted searches at multiple locations, including his residential house at Santokh Vihar, Kaluchak, Jammu; ancestral residence at Nonial, Nowshera, Rajouri; and business establishments including a stone crusher unit and tile factory at Tutte-di-Khui, Bajalta, Jammu. Additional searches were also carried out at other locations in Jammu under Section 185 of the BNSS based on further leads.
The ACB stated that incriminating documents were recovered and seized during the searches. Further investigation into the case is underway.
