Assets Unearthed in Anantnag, Pahalgam & Jammu

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a case of disproportionate assets against a terminated police constable, following a secret verification into allegations of amassing wealth beyond known sources of income.

According to an official statement, Selection Grade Constable Firdous Ahmad—who has been terminated from service—was found to have acquired substantial movable and immovable assets in his own name as well as in the names of his family members.

The verification revealed that the accused owns a two-storied residential house constructed on ancestral land at Hugam, Srigufwara, Anantnag, a palatial house on one kanal and ten marlas of land at Estate Machbhawan Mattan, a one-third share in Hotel Grand Lords at Movora, Tehsil Salar, Pahalgam, and a double-storied house at Tawi Vihar, Sidra in Jammu.

Subsequently, the ACB registered FIR No. 03/2025 U/S 13(1)(b) r/w 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 at Police Station ACB Anantnag.

During the course of the investigation, search warrants were obtained from the Hon’ble Special Judge, Anti-Corruption Court Anantnag, for conducting searches at the aforementioned locations. Officials also discovered that Firdous Ahmad had been allotted a police quarter at Police Housing Colony, Bemina. A search of that premises was also carried out under the authorisation of SSP ACB Anantnag.

Simultaneous raids were conducted at all identified locations, and searches were still underway at the time of filing this report.

Further investigation is ongoing.
