Ganderbal, Mar 14 (KNZ): The Police Martyrs’ Volleyball Tournament organised by police concluded with a grand finale at Chattergul in the Kangan area of Ganderbal district on Saturday, officials said.
Senior Superintendent of Police Khalil Ahmad Poswal attended the final match as the chief guest, accompanied by SDPO Kangan Rajeev Raina and other police officers.
The tournament, organised under the Civic Action Programme, saw participation of 16 teams from different areas of Sub-Division Kangan and drew large attendance from local residents and sports enthusiasts.
In the final match, Mukdampora Strikers Chattergul defeated Elite Volleyball Club Cherwan to lift the title.
Speaking on the occasion, the SSP appreciated the enthusiasm of the youth and highlighted the role of sports in promoting discipline, healthy lifestyles and community bonding.
The winning and runner-up teams were felicitated with cash prizes, trophies and appreciation certificates by the chief guest and other dignitaries, officials added.(KNZ)
