Ganderbal, Mar 13 (KNZ): Police have seized four vehicles, including three tippers and a tractor, allegedly involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minor minerals in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, officials said on Friday.

The vehicles were intercepted by a police team from Police Station Lar during routine patrolling and checking, they said.

Upon inspection, the vehicles were found transporting construction material without valid authorisation, in violation of prescribed norms. The vehicles were seized on the spot and the matter was subsequently taken up with the Geology and Mining Department, which imposed fines under relevant provisions of law.

Police said the action was part of an ongoing drive against illegal mining in the district and reiterated their commitment to curb such unlawful activities that pose a threat to natural resources and the environment. Officials also urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies in protecting natural resources.(KNZ)
