Handwara March 09:Police in Handwara organized awareness programmes on new criminal laws (NCLs) at Govt Boys High School Supernaghama. The laws discussed included Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam.

These programmes were chaired by respective jurisdictional police officers and attended by teachers, students etc. The initiative aimed to educate the general public, students and teachers about the enactment of new criminal laws, ensuring awareness and compliance with the updated legal framework.

The chairing officers explained the nuances of the new laws, clarifying their implications and stressing the importance of adherence to legal statutes for maintaining societal order. The programme witnesses active participation from students and teachers, who engaged in interactive discussions, questions and sought clarifications on the legal provisions presented. The new laws include provisions that ensure justice for the victims of crime and the society at large. Modernization of the investigation process through the use of technology has been included.

The participants appreciated the role of Police in organising programmes on New Criminal Laws. These events underscored the importance of continuous legal education and the role of educational institutions in fostering informed and legally aware students /citizens.
