Ganderbal, Mar 8 (KNZ): Police have seized two tippers allegedly involved in illegal extraction and transportation of construction material in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, officials said on Sunday.
The vehicles were intercepted in the Watalbagh area under the jurisdiction of Police Station Lar during routine patrolling and checking, they said.
Upon inspection, the tippers were found transporting mining material without valid authorisation. The vehicles were seized on the spot and the matter was subsequently taken up with the Geology and Mining Department, which imposed a fine under relevant provisions of law.
Police said the action was part of an ongoing drive against illegal mining in the district and reiterated their commitment to curb such unlawful activities that pose a threat to natural resources and the environment.(KNZ)
