Ganderbal, February 17, 2026:In a significant step towards maintaining public order, Ganderbal Police has successfully secured the conviction of an accused under Section 355 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) from the Hon’ble Judicial Magistrate 1st Class (JMIC), Kangan.
The accused, Amir Ahmad Beigh, son of Ghulam Rasool Beigh, a resident of Thune, Kangan, was found guilty of attempting to disturb public peace and tranquility while in an intoxicated condition.
Adopting a reformative approach, the Hon’ble Court sentenced the accused to undergo community service for a period of seven (07) days at an institution under the Social Welfare Department, Ganderbal.The case was effectively prosecuted by Prosecuting Officer Ilyas Khawaja.
Ganderbal Police has reiterated its firm commitment to upholding law and order in the district. Authorities emphasized that strict legal action will continue against individuals indulging in activities that disrupt public peace and communal harmony.
