Ganderbal, 29 Dec:In a sustained crackdown on illegal mining activities, Ganderbal Police has intensified enforcement across the district, leading to the seizure of 16 vehicles, including 12 tippers and 4 tractors, involved in the illegal extraction and transportation of minor minerals.
The action was carried out within the jurisdictions of Police Station Ganderbal, Police Station Kheerbawani, Police Station Lar, and Police Post Nagbal. The seized vehicles were found transporting illegally extracted material from Nallah Sindh without the requisite permissions and documentation.
Acting promptly and in close coordination with the Geology and Mining Department, police teams intercepted the vehicles on the spot and initiated legal proceedings against the offenders. The operation forms part of an ongoing district-wide drive to curb unlawful mineral extraction and transportation.
Illegal mining not only results in significant losses to the public exchequer but also poses a serious threat to the ecological balance and environmental sustainability of the region.
Ganderbal Police reiterated its firm commitment to safeguarding natural resources and enforcing the rule of law.
The police have once again warned individuals involved in illegal mining and mineral transportation to desist from such activities, cautioning that strict legal action will continue against all violators without exception.
