The operation, conducted under the supervision of SSP Ganderbal Shri Khalil Ahmad Poswal (JKPS), aimed to verify the authenticity of SIM issuance and prevent the circulation of fake or fraudulently obtained SIM cards that could be used for unlawful activities.

During the inspection, police teams examined customer verification records, sale registers, and other documentation maintained by vendors operating under the jurisdiction of PS Safapora, PS Ganderbal, PS Kheerbawani, PS Gund, PP Gutlibagh, PP Nagbal, and PP Shadipora.

The inspection drive also focused on ensuring that all service providers and retailers strictly follow Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and TRAI guidelines regarding SIM card issuance.

Vendors found violating the prescribed norms or failing to maintain proper verification records were warned of strict legal action. Police teams also sensitized the vendors about the legal implications and security risks associated with issuing SIM cards without proper documentation.

Reaffirming its commitment to maintaining law and order, Ganderbal Police stated that such drives will continue to ensure that SIM cards are not misused for anti-social or criminal purposes, thereby strengthening public safety and security across the district.
