Ganderbal, Aug 19(KNZ): Police in Ganderbal have arrested a girl for murdering her 14-year-old younger sister in the Sehpora area of Ganderbal, The body of the victim was recovered on Sunday morning.
Briefing the media, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ganderbal, Khalil Poswal, said a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was constituted soon after the recovery, while a forensic team from Srinagar was also roped in to assist with the probe.
“At the outset, it appeared that both sisters had gone missing and might have been kidnapped. However, technical evidence and CCTV footage did not support the kidnapping claim,” SSP Poswal said.
He added that during questioning, the elder sister confessed to the crime. “She admitted to taking her younger sibling to the spot, where an altercation broke out between them. In the course of the scuffle, she struck her sister on the head with a rod, resulting in her death. The accused later attempted to hide the weapon, which has since been recovered,” he said.(KNZ)
