Ganderbal, Feb 28 (KNZ): Police have seized seven vehicles, including six tippers and a tractor, allegedly involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minor minerals in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, officials said on Saturday.

The vehicles were intercepted while transporting material extracted without permission from Nallah Sindh, they said.

The action was carried out by police teams in coordination with the Geology and Mining Department as part of an ongoing drive against illegal mining across the district.

Officials said illegal extraction leads to loss to the public exchequer and poses a serious threat to the ecological balance. Police warned offenders to desist from unlawful mining and transportation activities, adding that strict legal action will continue against violators.(KNZ)
