Ganderbal, Mar 6 (KNZ): Police have seized three vehicles, including two tippers and a tractor, allegedly involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minor minerals in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, officials said on Friday.

The vehicles were intercepted in the jurisdictions of Ganderbal and Lar police stations while transporting material extracted without permission from Nallah Sindh, they said.

The action was carried out by police teams in coordination with the Geology and Mining Department as part of an ongoing drive against illegal mining in the district.

Officials said illegal extraction results in revenue loss to the government and poses a serious threat to the ecological balance of the region. Police warned offenders to desist from unlawful mining and mineral transportation, adding that strict legal action will continue against violators.(KNZ)
