Srinagar, October 29: To pay homage to martyr constable Zaheer Abbas Khan resident of Poonch, who achieved martyrdom today while fighting  the terrorists in Hajin area of Bandipora, was held at DPL Srinagar.

Deputy Chief Minister J&K Shri Nirmal Singh  led civil,  police/security force officers and  jawans in laying the floral wreaths to the body of the martyr.

Among others Inspector General of Police Shri Munir Ahmad Khan, IG Traffic Shri Jagjit Kumar, DIG CKR Shri Ghulam Hassan Bhat, officers of Army/CRPF, SSsP and DySsP of the district were present.

Zaheer Abbas Khan is survived by aged parents, wife, three minor children Mehtab Zaheer 10 years old, Manik Ahmad 08 years old and Sumaira Zaheer about 05 years old.

As has been reported that Bandipora police along with 13RR and 45 Bn CrPF launched a cordon and search operation in Mir Mohalla area of Bandipora district. During search operation, terrorists hiding in the area fired upon the joint search party. One police constable namely Zaheer Abbas Khan was injured during the encounter who was shifted to hospital for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries and achieved martyrdom.
