Srinagar, September 19:Kulgam police arrested intra State drug peddlers along with poppy straw.
Acting on reliable information, a team from JT police post under the supervision of SDPO/SHO Qazigund intercepted a Taveera vehicle bearing Registration No. JK03D-7111. During checking, police recovered 15 kilograms of poppy straw from the possession of Mohammad Shahid son of Mohammad Dilbar Ansari and Amjad Ali son of Showkat Ali resident of Marilkotla district in Punjab. Both the accused were arrested.
A case under FIR Number 242/2017 under Section 8/15 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against the drug peddlers and investigation started.
It is pertinent to mention here that its third time in current month Police Kulgam have seized contraband substances from different drug peddlars and action under law have been initiated. People of the area have highly hailed the efforts of Police to prevent the rise of drug abuse in Kulgam.
