Traffic Plan: As a result of occurring of landslides from time to time, the width of the NHW at different places between Udhampur and Banihal is narrow and as such allowing two-way movement of all sort of traffic on the NHW is not feasible.

Subject to fair weather/ good condition of the road and in order facilitate the passengers, tourists/ emergency vehicles, movement of passenger vehicles on the NHW shall be allowed both ways viz from Jammu towards Srinagar and vice versa in a regulated manner.

The movement of Load Carriers on the NHW shall be one-way only and tomorrow on 16.11.2017 movement of these vehicles shall be allowed from Jammu towards Srinagar side. The movement of these vehicles shall be regulated from Udhampur itself. As such movement of Load Carriers (except Trailers/multi-axle vehicles) shall be allowed from Udhampur from 0400 hours (depending on weather/road condition) upto 1000 hours only.

The commuters are advised to exhibit highest order of driving discipline and avoid overtaking and doubling on the NHW so that there is no jamming/ congestion on the NHW.

No movement of Load Carriers and convoys of Army, BSF, CRPF, ITBP, SSB etc. shall be allowed from Srinagar towards Jammu side on 16.11.2017 under any circumstances in order to ensure smooth flow of traffic on the NHW.

Commuters are requested/advised that vehicles are not parked in any landslide/ vulnerable zone of NHW, especially from Jawahar Tunnel – Ramban under any circumstances. The said road stretch is vulnerable/slide prone zone and therefore should be kept free from all sorts of traffic to avoid any eventuality.
