Says it should be cleaned or closed, Govt must provide relief to NOKs of deceased, injured

The state Human Rights Commission (SHRC) on Tuesday said that the Tosa Maidan should be either cleaned or cleaned, saying that this Maidan cannot be allowed to become a death trap for children.Hearing a suo-motto complaint regarding death of one person and four injured in a mine-blast at Tosa Maidan in Budgam on last Thursday, the commission expected that necessary relief will be provided to the NOKs of the deceased and also to the injured persons. The commission also observed that it earlier dealt with a similar matter where a girl got killed and her brother lost both legs by a blast in same Tosa Maidan. It expected that foolproof steps will be made in cleaning Tosa Maidan, so that there is no such incident in future. The SHRC also directed the Chief Secretary to file a report within six weeks and the case is fixed for a next hearing on 08-11-2018.
