Srinagar:Thousands of people on Friday attended the funeral prayers of slain militant Sheeraz Ahmad who was killed along with his associate in a gunfight with government forces in Panzan village of central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Thursday.

The slain militant was a resident of Kralwari Chadoora in Budgam.

Witnesses said that thousands of people including men, women and children thronged the ancestral village of slain raising massive pro-freedom and anti-India slogans.

The funeral prayers of the slain militant were held in the local village after which he was buried in his ancestral graveyard.

Meanwhile a complete shutdown is being observed in Budgam with mourners taking shortest routes through paddy fields to reach slain militants home to offer condolences to his family.

The second militant who was killed in Panzan gunfight was identified as Irfan Ahmad Dar, a resident of Nihama Pulwama.
