PESHAWAR, December 01: A terrorist attack is currently underway at the Agricultural Directorate which is situated near Peshawar University, police officials said, adding that the terrorists aimed to attack the directorate’s hostel.

Twelve people were reportedly injured in the attack which is ongoing.

The attack began as firing broke out at the directorate early Friday morning when at least three burqa-clad suspects entered the building.

The attackers arrived at the location on a rickshaw, DawnNews quoted police as saying.

A heavy contingent of the police arrived in the area that has been cordoned off. Peshawar’s University Road, where the incident is taking place has been closed to traffic. Army and Frontier Corps personnel have also arrived at the site of the firing. Moreover, the area is being surveyed by military helicopters.

The university is officially closed today as the country celebrates Eid Miladun Nabi.
