Senior Congress leader and former finance minister, Tariq Karra has been accepted a private party by the Supreme Court in the Article 35A case whose hearing was today deferred after Diwali festival by the apex court.

Karra has moved an application before Supreme Court to impaled him as a private party in the matter Article 35A.

“Yes, the plea has been accepted by the Honourable Supreme Court and I have been accepted as a private party into the case,” Karra told.

The supreme court today deferred the plea of hearing the case of Article 35A after the Diwali festival (which falls on October 19) when the State government through its counsels pleaded for the same.

Article 35A is becoming quite emotive in the state, with Hurriyat and mainstream parties having warned of mass agitation should it be abrogated by the apex court.
