Sopore: A complete shutdown is observed in Sopore town on Wednesday  to mourn the murder of a goldsmith Tariq Ahmad Malik 31, of Kalaroos Kupwara  whose dead body was recovered yesterday at Tulibal area of Sopore town.

Tariq was murdered after his abduction by four persons from his shop at Chota bazaar Sopore on 26th of December 2017, at evening hours and later strangulated before looting the gold from his shop and then his dead body was thrown into river Jhelum. All the accused have been arrested.

After strenuous efforts of Sopore police with the help of local fisher men retrieved and fished out his body after 35 days on Tuesday 30 January 2018, at Tulibal area from the river and was later handover to his family after all medical formalities

Consequently, Traders Federation Sopore called for shutdown on Wednesday in Sopore town in solidarity with the slain goldsmith. All shops and small business establishments remain shut in Sopore while as transport is plyinh normally on roads.

His funeral prayer (nimaz jinaza) will be observed at 02 pm at Iqbal Market Sopore

Meanwhile Bar association Sopore, fruit growers and dealers association fruit Mandi Sopore and industrial manufacturing association Sopore has supported the shutdown call given by trade body.
