Bandipora, July 23: As part of World Youth Skills Day celebration, Mosaic work skills Pvt, a Project Implementing Agency (PIA) of Government’s Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), has launched a 15-days campaign Kaushal Pakhwada, to raise awareness about the importance of skill development among the youth in Bandipora.

As part of the campaign that will conclude on July 31, different activities are being carried out in the district by the PIA including skill exhibitions, seminars, symposiums, painting competitions, marathons , debates and discussions to create awareness about the skill training and its importance besides celebrating the power of skills.

Project Manager Mosaic Work Skills, Sheikh Taqwa said the fortnight campaign Kaushal Pakhwada is being observed from 16th to 31st July 2019 by government to advocate skills and make them aspirational for the young. The fortnight campaign is a significant initiative to highlight the importance of skills and ensure that the people are marching towards the vision of making country the Skill Capital of the World.

Besides Sheikh Taqwa, Hafiz bin Hamid, Umer, Aaqib Hussain , Aqib Peerrzada, Shameema Mubashir and Farhat Anjum took a lead role in organizing the activities that will conclude on July 31.

She said different activities have been carried out during the Kaushal Pakhwada including Poster making activity, marathon, singing competition, skits and seminars which were attended hundreds of students and youth. The students including a good number of female students participated actively in all the activities and highlighted the importance of skill development.

The speakers highlighted the importance of skill trainings in the state and said that the training the youth in different skills is the only way to fight unemployment in the state as the skilled youth can never be unemployed and can get jobs anywhere.

Taqwa said under the PMKVY, the organization is training students in different trades according to market demand so that the students get their jobs easily. She said preparing students for the world market in different sectors is the only option to tackle the unemployment as an unskilled youth cannot compete in the world market.

Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) is the flagship scheme of the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) implemented by National Skill Development Corporation. Organizers said the objective of this Skill Certification Scheme is to enable a large number of Indian youth to take up industry-relevant skill training that will help them in securing a better livelihood. “Individuals with prior learning experience or skills are also assessed and certified under Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)” she added.

Speakers said under Skill India, a number of initiatives are aimed at developing skills and promoting entrepreneurship among youth and the central government has set a target of skilling 40.2 crore people in India by 2022, under the new National Policy for Skill Development, in which 54 percent of people will be skilled in agriculture sector.
