The district administration on Friday announced closure of schools and colleges in the main town Pulwama on Saturday amid fears of protests over the killing of a local militant in Sopore gunfight.

All schools and colleges in the main town will remain closed tomorrow to prevent any law and order situation,’*Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Ghulam Mohammad Dar.

Pertinently, Khurshid Ahmad Malik, 26 of Arabal, Nikas here and his associate Riyaz Ahmad Dar were killed in a fierce encounter in Drussu area of Sopore triggering off violent protests in their natives villages. One solider was also killed in the gun-battle that raged in the early hours today.
