The legal metrology department on Thursday registered case against a Private School in Bandipora district for selling books in the school premises.
Complying with the orders issued by the Deputy Commissioner Bandipora to act tough against the schools forcing children to buy books and uniform from the school or from specific shopkeepers, a joint team of Revenue, Legal Metrology and Food Safety headed by Additional Deputy Commissioner Bandipora conducted inspection of various schools in Bandipora.
During the inspection, Eaglets Public School was found involved in business of selling books inside the school premises.
The team seized the books in bulk and also registered a case against the school authorities.
Earlier the government had directed private school institutions not to compel parents to buy books and uniform from the school or from any specific shops. The booksellers have also been warned not to sell books on exorbitant rates
